Stonyhurst College is set in 1,000 acres of Britain’s most beautiful countryside in the North West of England. Overlooking Pendle Hill and the magnificent Ribble Valley, the Stonyhurst Estate is simply outstanding. Stonyhurst College is one of Britain’s leading Catholic boarding schools, with over 400 years of history, set in a magnificent Grade 1 listed building. Whilst the College is home to more than 700 pupils during term time, during the school holidays, Stonyhurst is one of the most impressive venues in the North of England. Set in 1,000 acres, the College’s history, character and unique setting makes it a fascinating place to visit. Stonyhurst hosts a variety of events, open to the public throughout the year, and our state-of-the-art facilities and accommodation, are available to hire for public and private events. Venue Directions

By Road: Stonyhurst is located near the village of Hurst Green, less than half an hour’s drive from Preston and the M6. Coming from the north, leave the M6 at junction 32 onto the A6, turn right and follow the signs for Broughton and Longridge on the B5269 and then the B6243 to Hurst Green. Coming from the south leave the M6 at junction 31 and take the A59 into Whalley and then on the B6246 to Great Mitton and then the B6243 to Hurst Green. Alternatively leave at junction 31a and follow the B6242, B6243 to Longridge and then stay on the B6243 to Hurst Green. Coming from the M62 at junction 18, follow the M66, A56 and A6068 to Padiham, then run left onto the A671 for Whallley, then the B6246 to Great Mitton and then the B6243 to Hurst Green. Once at Hurst Green turn onto Avenue Road, by the War memorial opposite the Shireburn Arms public house, and follow the road, through the white gates, and continue straight ahead to the Main Entrance. By Bus: Stonyhurst is located 5 miles (15-minute drive) from Clitheroe town centre. The nearest bus stop is located on Knowles Brow. Stonyhurst can be accessed on a bus route from Clitheroe town centre on bus number 5 towards Chipping, the journey will take 25 minutes followed by a 23-minute walk. By Train: The most convenient railway station for Stonyhurst is Preston, some 13 miles away from the College, and under 3 hours from London Euston and 3 hours from Edinburgh. By Air: Manchester International is the nearest airport and is easily accessible by road or rail.
